Joanne was delayed by a client when she was leaving the office.
A meeting was being held by the tennis club at 6.30.
Sheba, the dog, blocked the doorway.
Sheba had to be taken to the vet.
The vet was worried by her condition.

can we be selfish with out it being our fault?
We as the novel suggest are selfish not because it is our choise but because we have it iside us. the way the theory of the author works is that humas have selfishness as a gene, and we are borne with this wich we got it from our parents.
It will be bad to follow this because we wouldent have a choice and well in my life I came to find out that people are what they want to be. We are not borne to be soething, we choose this I belive is also with being selfish. acorrding to Darwins theory the weak die wile the strong adapts to the enviroment and survives. If this would apply to being selfish it could mean that we as society have turned our surroundings into a selfish needing place. There for altruistic gene will become recesive and useless in our enviroment meaning will die.
I dont belive this would be the reality of our worl in such a extream case.

youtube selfish gene
well the author explains what the book is, what is he trying to explain in the novel. the most inportant part we can say is how he explain that if a human is selfish because of its genes, there can olso be altruistic as a resesive gene.

The real genetics
" the wor selfish may seem an understatement for such extreme cases as cannibalism, although these fit well with our definition." (selfish gene page 5)
The selfish gene
At the beginning of the text I noticed that the name involved science there for it was going to be a scientific explanation throw out the novel. The author suggests that natural selection is part of what makes humanity selfish that we have it in our gene pool. That animals like baboons do everything for the best of the population, this is what he defines as altruistic in the first chapters. Now the human population will do any thing to get a benefit out of every situation.
I believe we have a selfish part in all of us not a gene but a part of us. We have the choice to be selfish or altruistic we are not forced to be either one we chose.

Is it in the genes or in culture?
"we receive each chromosome intact from one of our two parents" (the selfish gene page 25)
We as humans go trough a process before we are even born we are divided as egg and sperm this means that we are formed by two half’s each one with 23 chromosomes.
This means that we are all begun by the mixing of the genes from our parents, the novel suggests that when this happens the gene pool gives us the selfish part that is passed on by our parents.
If I must say all this scientific explanation about being something inside of us which we cant avoid is a lie. All humans have reasoning what about the ancient times when the recourses were gathered and distributed equally to everyone. It is actually a society problem and the fact that wile time goes by we all become more materialistic.

Summary
Forcing kids to go to schools is lowering the standards that any public school can have, kids don’t want to be there so all the y do is waste time. Also it affects the kids that want to be there, by slowing them down in their learning environment. If we take a look at private schools they don’t see this as a problem there for they can kick a student out of school because a public school has to receive them. (Sipher, n.pag)
Quoting
¨Ask high school teachers if recalcitrant students learn anything of value. Ask teachers if these students do any homework. Quite the contrary, these students know they will be passed from grade to grade until they are old enough to quit or until, as is more likely, they receive a high school diploma.¨(Sipher, n.pag)
Paraphrasing
Students that don’t believe in going to school damage the studying habits of the other students, if this students were removed from schools teachers could focus more teaching than trying to make the student behave properly (Sipher, n.pag)

The main climate controls in earth are the sun and the Antarctica, the sun brings warm climate the Antarctica cold climate. The cold water from Antarctica mixes with the hot water produced by the sun heating up the oceans. Lately because of humans and their daily routines this natural cycle is not working correctly. All of these have been proved by Captain Cousteau.
There was a time in America when prohibition took over the major cities, this was senseless because everyone knew that some people were still selling and the police had their hands tied behind their back. Gangsters took charge of everything and the twenties became the golden point for organized criminals. The music changed the women dressed differently more liberated, skirts were very popular. In these times everything was changing a decade of grate contrast.
There has been a grate amount of deaths because of bike accident the ones that suffer from these the most are children. The fact that they don’t wear head protection helps that number of deaths increase. If people use protection the amount of chances to die from these accidents could be lowered.
When you take a look at a modern painting the name that will be most likely to appear in your head will be Matisse one of the greatest artist of all times. He liked to paint specially still-life pieces we could say it was his specialty. He painted pieces all over the place from walls of sultan’s palaces to landscapes and even gates of beautiful cities.
Colossal constructions are amazing to all humanity an example of grates is the sears tower a colossal tower. Anyway there are some people that want to touch the sky literally by constructing buildings that can double the actual tower. Others want to go even further to achieve the grates building of all.

Entertainment
This book interested me because of how it is writen, it does not follow the regular pathern. its more like reading a group of short istories.
"Victoriano Gomez died on 8 february in the small town of San Miguel, El Salvador. He was shot under the afternoon sun, in the football stadium".
This is one of of the stories that I enjoyed reading the most, the real reason is a bit misterous to me. I fiogured out some of it after reading and consentrating on this story. I actually read it four times before I realized how important it was. when I was little I loved to hear my grand father tell me stories of the acient times. I remember him telling me how Romans used to go to the coliseum, to watch gladiators fight to death or gladiators fight animals. In a strange way after I read how the people were sitting in the stadium waiting for the execution. the way it is described how the stadium was full and some people could not even find a seat, this reminded me of the coliseum. They were waiting for someone to die and the Salvadorans were desperate to see it.
"Death loses its literalness at that distance: it stopsbeing deathand instead it becomes the spectacle of death".
If death has turned into a game, the question is what are we? a player or an spectator.

Where Does Courage Come From?
“Pick up your guns and let’s go guys cut those Salvadorans down to size”.
This was not something that surprised a lot since the novel mentions a lot of conflicts all around the world. Any way the words are what really shocked me, they are strong to me they seem like they are chanting to go to war. Something that I believe is that the words are strong as to give a man the courage to fight and kill. Well wile I was in middle school I had to wake up at 06:00 hours for the mile run, during the run I we had to sing to forget about being tired. Also we singe the pledge to the flag every morning, that inspired us o be patriotic just as the soldiers to kill the Salvadorans.
To me a song can inspire as much as a speech that is why this quote, is interesting it expresses the hate of the soldiers and their desire to fight.

“Then he began to be afraid of the dark glasses, because he thought they would serve as a mark of recognition for the avengers of Guevara”.
In this quote it is easy to appreciate the conflict that South America was living at these moments. I noticed by the words he said that even a military man was afraid of the rebels. I have been educated in a military way since I was in elementary school; I have had to learn to have discipline and not to fear pain or exercise. I take this as an advantage but as the military man that shot Guevara, I am afraid of something that is as scary as death which is doing something wrong that affects my dad. There was a time that I got a problem of discipline at my school and my dad found out, the look in his face. I can say that when he was in uniform I was afraid, because I saw how other people were afraid of him at the military base. Any way I relate the situation of the sergeant because I was also paranoid afraid of the consequences.

is this the world we want to live in?
“UPGA! UPGA! On this road, UPGA ruled. UPGA held men in its way. I could feel three knifes pointing against my back and I saw several machetes aimed at my head”.
The Soccer Wars
The way this situation is represented makes me see the African conflict as very unstable situation. They are full of fallen governments, and civil wars. This fragment of the book surprised me a lot. I saw how people suffered every time the government failed and the anarchy returned to the streets. These words shocked me because I pictured him standing in this road block alone unarmed against men that did not care if he lived or died. The scariest part is that like this quote people in Africa face these killings that in a matter of days can turn in slaughters of thousands. I could relate it to Hotel Rwanda because the killings in the movies were using knifes and also machetes which I suppose is one of the worst ways to die. In the movie people are murdered since they are from other tribes. In the book they are killed for not paying or voting for the political party and they are not supposed too. It is sad that now we are taking the life of people so easily, that it’s becoming something as common as breathing.

what is courage?
“The Algerian people showed the highest proof of their heroism, endurance and patriotism”. The Soccer War
This quotation is without a doubt speaking about the topic of the book, the wars in a point of view of someone that was really close to it.
Which as far as now seems more like a documentary than a novel, it has been interesting since is new to me I haven’t read something like this. From the way the first 20 pages have been written I can say that the author seems like someone that was related really closely to the wars and their history in this book. Also this quote shows the real heroes in this war, the way they fought and how they were killed in combat for their principles of a free country. From the point of view I see it this story of heroes seems a lot like the movie “The Patriot”. I know they are in different location miles away but in both stories the oppressed countries are trying to free themselves from the imperialistic country.
How they are imposed to do anything to gain their freedom, even if it costs their lives. This example of patriotism has been seen several times trough out history in the past year, WWII the countries in this war showed as much courage as Algeria in this citation.

Is Having a Goal Important in Life

"I said that people never change their lives, that in any case one life was as good as another and that I wasn’t dissatisfied with mine here at all". The Stranger
After reading this book for a while I came to understand that Meursault adapts easily to any circumstance, as he says it himself all around the book. I can say that he may not even be aware he is in a bad situation, due to his fault of initiative trough out the book. He could be classified, as a typical case of an average person that doesn’t try hard at any think. His lack of priorities in life makes him seem like someone that doesn’t care and does the least always. He never wants more for the future; he just waits and takes it how ever it comes.

Is His Attitud Correct?
"I'd smack her aroud a little, but nice-like, you might say" (Stranger page 31).
It is sort of confusing talking about the fact of how Meursault and Raimod eat dinner together. Raimond's story it is interesting to see the reaction of the man when he listens to Raimonds story, on how he beat up his mistres. The fact is that she was cheating on him and he does nothing about it, is just like in the movie "21 Gramos". In the movie the actor Benicio del Toro beats up a girl and Sean Pean just listens, but does nothing about it. This book seems interesting lookig at the facts that Meursault never shows feeling even though he wants to fulfill pleasures that are external. What I mean by this is that he is like a soulless body with no need of love and inportant meaningfull fealings.

Do Feelings Matter?

" It occured to me that anyway one more Sunday was over, that Maman was buried now, that I was going back to work, and that, really, nothing had changed" (The Stranger page 24) .
Meursault meets a girl name Marie from work in the beach, where they spend most of the day. They had some sort of atraction towards each other, but there was not enough time to make something out of it. Meursault's mom died only a few days ago, but he still talks and acts like nothing major has happened. Marie is in love with him and she asked Meursalult if he was willing to get married with her. From his negative reaction any women would of dumped him and ran. He can not expres any feelings or emotions, and their relationship can be classified as shalow and empty. Only based on the fact that Marie needs Meursault and he only needs her to satisfy his physical desire. The way he interacts and forgets about his mom death (only a day later) will classify him as a bad, selfish, and self center person. All he cares is about him.
first chapter
" Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don’t know. I got a telegram from the home: Mother deceased. Funeral tomorrow. Faithfully yours. That doesn’t mean anything. Maybe it was yesterday". The Stranger

The main character in the Strager has a lack of fealings threw the first chapter, this can be well seen when he finds out that his mom died reasently. Also he doesnt want to see the body when she is in the cascate. This reaction is similar to kevins attitud in sin city. we can clearly see how he doesent care about tragic, or horrible news neider can afect this so called man. to me he is not a man he is like a machine, empty inside shalow in the outside
